ComEd incentive programs
Every utility program we file in, what it pays toward, and how filing runs — from a firm authorized inside the ComEd, Nicor Gas and Ameren Illinois programs.
What we do
- Identify every utility program a scope qualifies for, against the building, the territory and the measures.
- File for pre-approval and hold the reservation, because funds are limited and provided first come, first served.
- Price your fixture and equipment schedule against the program's current worksheets, not a headline rate.
- Run post-install verification: the inspection, the invoices, the equipment cut sheets and the utility's own field check.
- Close out the incentive so it is paid to you, with the documentation your board or your accountant will ask for.
Who performs it
We file directly through LAW Ventures, Ltd.'s own program authorizations — ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Provider and EV Service Provider, Nicor Gas Trade Ally Direct, Ameren Illinois SBDI & EV Partners, Focus on Energy trade ally — with no third-party rebate processor in the middle.
Construction is performed by our union crews at Boyd Electric on public and prevailing-wage work and by our open-shop team at Gullen Energy on private commercial work, so the paperwork and the installation are held by the same team.
The programs
What each utility program pays toward.
"ComEd provides instant discounts and incentives for as much as 75% of your project cost." This is the program-wide share for ComEd business electric customers in northern Illinois. Funds are limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis, the installing contractor must be ICC-certified and recertified each year, and offers are subject to change.
The standard-incentive track for lighting and controls at ComEd business electric customers. ComEd publishes its per-fixture and per-measure amounts in downloadable program worksheets rather than on a web page, so we price your fixture schedule against the current worksheet instead of quoting a headline rate.
"Your business can save on energy-efficient lighting products at the time of purchase through participating distributors with no paperwork." The saving comes off the invoice, which is the faster route on small stock-fixture scopes.
For "small businesses or public facilities with limited resources," ComEd states that "the ComEd incentives will reduce your out-of-pocket costs by up to 75% of your entire project." The flow is a free assessment by an authorized Service Provider, the customer chooses the upgrades, and the Service Provider installs them. LAW Ventures, Ltd. is an authorized Service Provider on that track.
ComEd pays a one-time rebate on interconnected solar and storage: $300/kW of solar and $300/kWh of storage for residential and under-100 kW customers, $250/kW and $250/kWh for larger commercial customers and community supply. Storage requires participation in ComEd's Scheduled Dispatch Virtual Power Plant program for the required term. Details on the solar and battery storage pages.
Base rebate for an ENERGY STAR certified Level 2 charger. Rebate applications are currently closed. The program runs through the end of 2028, first come, first serve until funding is depleted, and applications are due within 60 days of project completion once the window reopens. DC fast chargers carry "Up to $450/kW (min 50kW per charger)" on the same closed window. Details on the EV charging page.
Nicor publishes amounts by measure — for example "Furnaces - $200," "Condensing Boilers - $1.50/MBTUH," "Non-Condensing Boilers - $1.25/MBTUH," "Boiler Reset Controls - $1.25 per MBTUH, up to $1,500," and steam traps at "$25 per trap" untested or without a survey, up to "$300 per trap." Nicor Gas commercial customers only, and gas measures only. Equipment must be installed between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026, with the application filed within 90 days of installation or by 31 January 2027, whichever comes first. Boilers over 2,500 MBTUH route to a custom incentive. LAW Ventures, Ltd. files as Nicor Gas Trade Ally Direct.
Ameren Illinois offers financial incentives for energy-efficient equipment upgrades in its own territory, which is downstate and central Illinois rather than ComEd's northern footprint. Amounts are published in the program's application forms, not on its web pages, and contractors must be in the Program Ally network — LAW Ventures, Ltd. is in the Ameren Illinois SBDI and EV Partners networks.
For sites across the state line, LAW Ventures, Ltd. is a Focus on Energy trade ally in Wisconsin and files there on the same basis: scope first, application before the purchase order, verification at the end.
Grants, tax credits and financing — Illinois EPA, Illinois Shines, C-PACE, the federal credit — are on the grants & financing page.
Pre-approval comes before the purchase order. Utility programs do not pay retroactively; we file first, then we build.
